Chaney High School

"To Youth the Victory and To Youth the Spoils: A Permanent and Lasting Peace."

In nearly every dedication, remembrance or remark found in the 1943 Chaney High School Annual, the watch word is ‘youth.’ The youth of America are fighting; the youth of America are serving; the youth of America are winning and will see victory. The youth of the United States and Chaney High School, however, are also giving their lives as the Gold Star memorial page clearly shows. Why do you think this yearbook chose to focus on the role of young people in WWII and not the older politicians, generals or public figures who were leading them?
