Huerfano County High School

“Victory, victory is our cry. V-I-C-T-O-R-Y!”

The importance to mobilize the entirety of the United States population in support of the war effort, including students, could not be made more clear than in the pages of 1944 Huerfano County High School Panther yearbook. From the graduating ‘Victory Class’ to entire sections on school-wide war activities, all the way down to the class motto and colors, the Panther makes the distant war seem very close to the students living in Walsenburg, Colorado. What are some other less obvious signs of WWII’s influence?
